“If you like your health care plan, you can keep your health care plan,” President Barack Obama said publicly at least 40 times and proved even to his supporters that he was capable of major league mendacity.

The lying, however, did not begin or end with Obamacare. And by lying here, I mean conscious rejection or indifference to the truth, not just fudging or failing to meet campaign promises. Here are fifteen more examples:

15--“My parents shared not only an improbable love. They shared an abiding faith in the possibilities of this nation.” This was how Obama introduced himself to the world at the 2004 Democratic National Convention. The problem is that the story was false. There was no love, no faith, no family.

14--“My father left my family when I was two years old, and I was raised by a single mother,” Obama told America’s assembled schoolchildren in 2009. In fact, however, Obama’s mother never lived with Barack Obama Sr. She left for Seattle alone with her baby when Obama was just weeks old.

13—“There was something stirring across the country because of what happened in Selma, Alabama, because some folks are willing to march across a bridge. So [my parents] got together, and Barack Obama Jr. was born.” This was bodacious! Obama was conceived four years before the march took place.

12--"For my mother . . . to spend the last months of her life in the hospital room arguing with insurance companies because they're saying that this may be a pre-existing condition and they don't have to pay her treatment, there's something fundamentally wrong about that." Lying about the death of one’s mother is what’s fundamentally wrong. CIGNA never denied Obama’s mother coverage for her disease.

11 --“I can no more disown [Jeremiah Wright] than I can disown the black community,” said Obama in an “historic” 2008 speech on race in Philadelphia a month before throwing Wright under the proverbial bus, a twist the LA Times headlined, “Obama angrily disowns pastor.”

10-- “I've written two books. I actually wrote them myself.” No, Obama had major help with both, a different co-author for each.

9 --“This is a guy who lives in my neighborhood. He's not somebody who I exchange ideas from (sic) on a regular basis.” So summarized Obama on his relationship with his literary collaborator and mentor, Bill Ayers.

8-- “I believe that marriage is the union between a man and a woman,” Obama said at Rick Warren’s Saddleback Church in 2008. “Now, for me as a Christian, it’s also a sacred union. God’s in the mix.” When you put God in the mix, you don’t “evolve” on this position. You lie.

7--“Let me say it as simply as I can,” Obama said on the first full day of what would become the most lawless and opaque presidency since Nixon’s. “Transparency and the rule of law will be the touchstones of this presidency.”

6--"I think it’s important for us to understand that the Fast and Furious program was a field-initiated program begun under the previous administration," Obama said in September 2012. So bold was the lie that even ABC News headlined its story, “President Obama Falsely Claims Fast and Furious Program ‘Begun Under the Previous Administration.’”

5--“That’s what I will do in bringing all parties together, not negotiating behind closed doors, but bringing all parties together, and broadcasting those negotiations on C-SPAN,” so said candidate Obama in a January 2008 debate, the first of many lies that would litter the path to Obamacare.

4--“If you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor,” said Obama countless times. As Zeke Emanuel recently clarified, however, Obama meant, “If you want to pay more for an insurance company that covers your doctor, you can do that.”

3 --“When the Chips are down I have Israel’s back,” said Obama at a press conference before signing away Israel’s future with the Iranian nuke deal.

2--“We have been very clear to the Assad regime,” said Obama for the ages in August 2012, “that a red line for us is we start seeing a whole bunch of chemical weapons moving around or being utilized.” Two weeks later, Obama would say, “First of all, I didn’t set a red line.”

1--“The day after the attack, governor,” said Obama to Mitt Romney during the second debate, “I stood in the Rose Garden, and I told the American people and the world that we were going to find out exactly what happened, that this was an act of terror, and I also said we are going to hunt down those who committed this crime.”

Spotting a transparent lie, Romney moved in for the kill, “You said in the Rose Garden the day after the attack it was an act of terror? It was not a spontaneous demonstration, is that what you are saying.”

Obama then said off camera, “Get the transcript.” The camera now showed CNN’s Candy Crowley waving a piece of paper that gave the appearance of being a transcript. “He did in fact, sir, call,” said Crowley hesitantly to Romney, “so let me call it an act of terror.”

“Can you say that a little louder, Candy,” said a suddenly revived Obama. “He did call it an act of terror,” lied Crowley. So saying, she consummated the most egregious act of real-time media malpractice in recent memory and likely saved Obama’s presidency. In the age of Obama, that is how the media rolled.

For the record, the Obama administration has had no more success hunting down those Benghazi terrorists than O.J. Simpson had hunting down the Columbian drug dealers who murdered his wife.
