Yes, Patrick Kane was Martin's great- great- grandfather, so by my calculations, you and Martin are third cousins. Thanks for the book suggestion--that does indeed look like an interesting read.

We live in Greensboro, North Carolina, having moved here three years ago from the Pacific Northwest. We are both originally from the East coast--I'm from Pennsylvania and Martin is from (you can probably guess. . .) New Jersey. 

I will write again soon, but in the meantime I'm attaching an obituary that will be of interest to you, and maybe you have already seen it. One of the nephews mentioned (Robert) was Martin's grandpa. This was from the Princeton newspaper.
